Stinky feet can make you more attractive — to a hungry mosquito, that is! Explore the science of what’s eating you at Cape Fear Museum May 25 — September 9, with Attack of the Bloodsuckers!. Attack of the Bloodsuckers! will discover the biological wonders of sanguinivores — creatures that eat blood — through encounters with interactive exhibits and vibrant graphics. Visitors will be able to sit on a giant inflatable tick, spin their way through the mosquito’s life cycle, examine their own veins and the bodies of bloodsuckers with scientific instruments, and play a bloodsucker matching game. As Museum Director Ruth Haas explains “This exhibit explores the science of sanguinivores in a fun and interactive way.” In addition, when visitors leave the Museum, they will have learned why mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, leeches and other parasites are important to our ecosystem. Cape Fear Museum of History and Science, a department of New Hanover County, is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday; Labor Day through Memorial Day. General admission is $7 for adults; $6 for students with valid ID and senior citizens; $6 special military rate with valid military ID; $4 for children 3-17; and free for children under 3. Museum members are admitted free. New Hanover County residents’ free day is the first Sunday of each month. The Museum is located at 814 Market Street in historic downtown Wilmington, N.C.
